Every failure I carry parts for

Most chair failures come down to five components. I stock genuine replacements from my ISA supplier catalogue — over 130 SKUs covering every major chair type used in South African offices.

Gas Lift Replacement

The most common failure in a busy office. The pneumatic cylinder loses pressure and the chair drops mid-use. I remove the old cylinder, press in the correct replacement, and the chair holds height again. Done in under 20 minutes per chair.

Most common repair

Castor Replacement

Broken castors scratch floors and are a genuine trip hazard. I match the stem type (grip ring, threaded, plate) to your existing chair base and swap the full set. Hardfloor castors available if your office has tiles or wood.

Quick, visible fix

Mechanism Repair

Tilt mechanisms that lock, lean uncontrollably, or lose their tension are frustrating and uncomfortable. I assess whether the mechanism needs adjustment, lubrication, or full replacement — and carry common mechanism types in my kit.

Extends chair life significantly

Armrest Repair

Cracked armrest pads, loose armrest frames, and height adjustment mechanisms that jam are all repairable. I carry armrest pads in standard sizes and can fabricate replacements for common chair models.

Comfort and ergonomics

Seat Foam Replacement

A collapsed seat is an ergonomic problem — staff compensate by shifting posture, which leads to back complaints. I recut foam to the original specification and recover the seat if the fabric is still sound. If not, that falls under upholstery.

Ergonomic impact

Chair Base & Frame

Cracked bases, bent or damaged aluminium star bases, and loose column connections. I carry replacement bases in standard 5-star configurations (aluminium and nylon) for most chair seat-column diameters.

Safety critical
Replacing a mid-range office chair
R4 000–R12 000
Procurement process, lead time, disposal of old chair, fitting costs. Budget line item hit. Multiplied by every broken chair.
Repairing the same chair on-site
A fraction
Parts + on-site labour. The chair works again. No procurement process. No waiting. The original asset protected for years more service.

Most businesses replace chairs they should repair

A broken gas lift or snapped castor does not mean the chair is at end of life. It means one component failed. That component costs a fraction of a replacement chair — and I carry it with me.

"You spend R8,000 replacing a chair I can fix for R800. The maths doesn't change based on how many chairs you have."

What happens when you book a repair visit

From first message to repaired chairs — here's exactly what to expect.

Tell me what's broken

WhatsApp me a quick description — or photos if you have them. I identify the parts I need to bring. Takes two minutes.

I quote you upfront

You get a written quote before I arrive. No surprises on the day. If the actual job turns out to be simpler, the final invoice will reflect that.

I come to your premises

I arrive with parts, tools, and a plan. I work around your team — off to the side, in a spare corner, or in the evening if that suits your operation better.

Chairs back in service

Same-day return on most repairs. I invoice you when the work is done. Payment by EFT within agreed terms.

I know your chairs better than a generalist ever will

Chair repair looks simple. The devil is in the details — which gas lift grade suits which load, which caster grade won't scratch which floor, which foam density actually supports a person working an 8-hour shift. That knowledge is what you're paying for.

What people ask before booking

Cost depends on the parts needed. A gas lift swap is quicker and cheaper than a full mechanism replacement. I quote you upfront — before I arrive — based on your description or photos. A chair that costs R4,000–R12,000 to replace can in most cases be repaired for a fraction of that. I'll give you the honest comparison when I quote.
Yes — that is the service. No transport costs for you, no logistics headache, no risk of chairs being damaged in transit. I come to your premises with tools and parts, work in a designated space, and hand the chairs back working. Your team keeps using the office normally.
Most standard repairs — gas lift, castors, armrests — take 15–25 minutes per chair. A batch of 10 chairs with mixed issues typically takes 2–3 hours. I'll give you a time estimate when I quote so you can plan the space.
Yes. Gas lifts and castors are mostly standardised across brands — I can match diameter and load rating to virtually any chair. Mechanisms vary more, but I carry common types and can source less common ones within a few days. If I'm uncertain about a specific model, I'll tell you before I quote rather than after I arrive.
Yes — I provide a written quote before work begins and a formal invoice when the job is complete. Payment is by EFT. If your procurement process needs specific reference information, just tell me when you book and I'll make sure the paperwork matches your requirements.
