Most office chairs use one of three lengths. Fitting the wrong one leaves the chair too high, too low or rocking. The 200 mm executive is the one I fit most.

Gas lift questions I get every week
R380 per chair, fitted at your office. That is a Class 4 cylinder plus the labour. There is no separate call-out fee. Business visits are a minimum of 3 chairs, quoted in writing before I travel and invoiced to your company.
The gas lift (also called the gas cylinder, or the shocker) has lost its seal. Once the gas leaks past the seal the cylinder can no longer hold your weight, so the seat drops slowly or all at once. A sealed cylinder is not rebuilt; it is replaced.
Not on-site. A visit is a minimum of 3 chairs, because the trip costs the same for one chair as for ten. For one or two chairs, buy the right cylinder from my online spares store and fit it yourself using the free gas cylinder guide.
Most office chairs use one of three lengths: the 200 mm executive cylinder (chairs with a multi-function or synchro tilt mechanism), the 235 mm typist cylinder (plain task chairs), or the 385 mm draughtsman cylinder (tall counter-height stools). The 200 mm executive is the one I fit most. Send me a photo of the chair from the side with the seat at its lowest and I will tell you which one it takes.
Cylinders are graded Class 1 to 4 by wall thickness and load rating. Class 4 is the heaviest-duty commercial grade. Lighter classes are common in budget chairs. I only fit Class 4 on commercial jobs.
